The stages of being a fic writer or even a fic reader are very interesting. I only know my experience and those of a few others, but generally it seems there's a sort of pattern: Sue fics, Cliches, Crossovers and AUs, Original Ideas that are not necessarily AU, Canonical with originality.
Would anyone agree?
Altohugh as for reading, I haven't spoken to anyone about that really. I know when I started reading it was Snape/Hermione all the way, and a little Hermione/Draco. But I can't stand that now, either of those. Well and then, of course, I discovered slash and . . . just WOW!
Sue fics come from within. Isn't that weird? Most people that I've talked to, including myself, started off Sueing pretty strongly. Although, age has got to be a factor, wouldn't you think? I started writing fic at 11 and started reading it at 12. Now I'm 18.
My basic last thought it in the form of a question I'd like to put forth: My writing and reading choices -- have they matured or have I abandoned my true self?
