The Ring

                It isn't often, but every once in a while Arthur thinks about how things might have been different, had it been legal. He doesn't like to dwell on the past, see, or form regrets. Other men might revel in their mistakes or their misfortunes, but Arthur wasn't one of them.

                He told Severus, just once, that were the laws different, he would have married him instead.

                It has to be something Severus knows by now. But he pulls Arthur's hand toward him and stares at the wedding ring anyway.

                "I would have had your babies," he says, and then amends it. "Well, I would have had one. The other six, you could do."
